Effective Sept. 2, 2010, the City of Denton entered into Risk Level 3—Public Health Concern Response of the Mosquito Surveillance and Response Plan. Risk Level 3 was triggered because a sample of mosquitoes collected on Aug. 18, 2010, from traps located near Unicorn Lake have tested positive for the presence of West Nile virus.
